Neurocore | Muscle Tech

Neurocore is a pretty solid all round pre-workout supplement. I had heard a number of great thing via friends at the gym.  I was pretty pumped to try it out. Sadly when I arrived at my local supp store, the Grape flavor was all that they had in stock: Grape has got to be me least favorite flavor. And so, my judgement on the taste of neurocore would be pretty unfair. Not bad for Grape I guess? Lol.

The effects were pretty decent though. It is pretty strong stimulant / nootropic wise with about 130mg of caffeine per scoop. I felt the need to take 2 scoops to get the feeling I like to be at. Focus was instense, and energy as well. A bit on the jittery side, but not too much - 3 scoops would've been over doing it though. The concentration I had on arm days was pretty awesome.

It doesn't have too much Creatine per serving though, which I'd like to see because I don't want to add my own separately. At 3 scoops you'll get enough! But some uncomfortable jitters too...Overall not my top choice, but still a pretty decent preworkout choice.

Platinum Pre | By Optimum Nutrition
I was really excited to try out Platinum Pre for the first time. After reading the description and a few reviews, I was convinced it was going to be amazing. While I really did enjoy the effects, there was a small hiccup along the way that I did not like. We'll get to that part.
The effects of Platinum Pre were really quite good.  I felt incredibly energized and driven to get movin'. It uses about 200 mg of caffeine per scoop to do this as well as some other pretty quality ingredients like Beta Alanine (crazy tingles with this supp too) and L-Citrulline etc. I didn't get to feeling jittery, which was surprising for so much caffeine, and the energy was long lasting without a big dirty crash following. Overall very pleased with the effects. One thing to note here is, it is Creatine free so I was adding my own to the equation.
And now to get into the bad part. I had the displeasure of tasting the SuperFruit flavor. Don't get me wrong, the actual flavoring was pretty tasty and unique even - but the after taste of almost every sip had a distinct checmically taste to it. Almost like a burn in the back of your throat. This was enough to turn me back towards the remainder of the C4 I had left over from a previous purchase....but eventually I had to get through it; and I did not like one minute of it. If you're someone who just chugs the whole pre-wo down in a couple gulps, then this would be no big deal, but for me - I find it hard to choose something that doesn't taste great when there are many other effective and good tasting options out there.
Again I'm not huge into ingredients, so if you're curious, check out this full review of Platinum Pre here. Or if you're interested in buying it, click the button below to find a good deal on it through Amazon.

Superpump Max

A good old friend of mine from the beginning, Superpump Max was the second pre-workout supplement I had ever tried. The taste, and the effects were both incredible. Although it isn't as strong as either Assault or C4 Extreme, Superpump is incredibly reliable and consistent.
I never felt like the effects were wearing down over time, as I felt with NO Xplode. It doesn't make my skin tingle either. This makes Superpump one of the most versatile of all. I could take it even during the day for a little extra boost.
I come back to it when I want to give my body a little break from the heavy caffeine of the others. I use it at the gym, or when playing my soccer too. And the endurance is nothing short of amazing for me. I feel like I can outrun anyone on the field.
Another favorite part is the no Crash afterwards. I don't like that at all, especially is exercising during the day. How am I supposed to get the rest of my day in too?
Overall, not as strong, but a reliable friend, that tastes great, and works great too.
Once again, I'm not much for ingredients, so if you're interested- click here to see the full review of Superpump Max. If you'd like to try it, click the button below to find it immediately on Amazon.

Scream (from bodybuilding.com)

Scream has to the strongest pre-workout supplement I have used thus far.  It got me to feeling a little jittery, but too uncomfortable. As long as I was at the gym and ready to go when it kicked in, it was awesome. Its probably the 300mg or so of caffeine in their, lol.
I must say, I was surprised that this supplement was so good coming from a supplement company. I wasn't expecting much. But after looking through the ingredients and some reviews, I thought I'd give it a go. And it was really good. Very focused, and alert ready to pump out the reps. The pumps it gave me were pretty incredible too, probably from the L-Citrulline - veins everywhere.
Also, I was expecting a big crash following the workout from the caffeine, but there was only a little one. It was a pleasant surprise. Must be the BCAA's and electrolytes that help to keep you up and running. Overall, I think Scream is pretty good, but I couldn't take it all the time - month after month I mean.  Makes for intense workouts, but could use the break after that month from the caffeine.

Cellucor C4 Extreme

I've only recently come across C4 Extreme, but I have been converted into a fan. C4 helps me get feeling energized, focused, and really ready to get going. This one makes my face and skin start tingling like crazy!

Unlike with Assault, I will only use C4 Extreme at the gym. It gives me incredibly feeling pumps and make veins pop out where I'd never seen any before (love that feeling). My gym session are awesome with this one. But after a quick glance at the ingredients compared to Assault, its even easy for me to see that Assault is better equipped for more endurance type stuff like sports and cardio. Hence the slightly lower score because Assault is just more versatile.

But another great thing about C4 is the great price. The price per serving (where I bought it on Amazon anyway) was way lower than many of the other brands I've tried. So if I'm ever looking to save a bit of cash, this is what I'll go for.

I'm not really the kind a guy that researches the ingredients too much, but I've found a good site that does this for me. Click here to see the full review of C4 Extreme. If you think you want to give it a go, check it out at the link below.

Muscle Pharm Assault Ratings

Ever since I first tried Assault over a year ago now, I have consistently come back to it as a default pre-workout. Loving a particular supplement doesn't stop me from trying new ones, but its awesome to have a reliable source to turn to when I need it. With Assault, I feel an incredible energy and focus. I feel my face and arms start to tingle almost with the first sip. I start to feel more driven, and ready to crank out some intense exercise. After using it for a couple of weeks, I start to notice that I need to up my weights for many exercises and I just feel all around stronger. One part that's my favorite, is that it has all the Creatine I need in 1 day per serving. I dislike having to buy multiple supplements, take multiple supplements, research multiple supplements....you get the point. I use it mainly for building muscle - lifting heavy and doing low reps and I find it awesome for this.

I also play soccer on some weeknights, and weekends which I find Assault pretty damn useful for. After a long day at the office, I used to find it extremely hard to find the energy for a 9pm game. This is definitely solved after about 10 minutes of drinking my pre-workout. I really can't speak highly enough about it, and I highly recommend it to anyone that asks. So if you haven't tried it, give it a shot! You can find it on Amazon through the link below.

I don't care to research too much into the ingredients, but if you'd like to learn more about them, click here to read a full review of Assault.
